Dazzling Founder's Day At Doraha College

The Doraha College of Education celebrated its Founder's Day in the memory of Sant Kartar Singh Ji Kamaliawale with great zeal, fervour and devotion. Sant Kartar Singh Ji settled in Patiala after the Partition and dedicated his entire life to the service of humanity, education and Sikh religion.

The function started with 'shabad kirtan' by Bhai Kirpal Singh Ji, Hazoori Ragi, Sri Darbar Sahib. College students then presented a shabad 'Jap man Jagannath' in the stipulated raag.

The Director of the college, Amrit K. Gurm, welcomed the guest of honour, Prof Amarjit Singh Dua, Panjab University Senator and former Dean, GNDU, and other guests who included Tejparkash Singh Kotli, Dr A.S. Bansal, Director, Bhutta College of Engg and Tech, Dr H.S. Gurm, Vice-Chairman, Bhaddal Institute of Engineering, Dr Chandermohini, Principal, Satyam College of Education, Harnam Kaur, President, Municipal Council, Doraha, and Mrs Umal Kaur, Director, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Doraha.

The Principal of the college, Jagjit Kiran Gera, read out the annual report of the college highlighting the achievements of the students in different fields.

She also highlighted the efforts of the college in bringing the college closer to the community by adopting Doraha village for community and social work.

The co-operation of schools in which students went for their teaching practice was also appreciated. D.S. Gosain, Principal, Sarswati Senior Secondary School, Manjula Vinayak, headmistress, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School among others were presented with a token of appreciation by the college.

Prof A.S. Dua also honoured students for their achievements in the inter-college competitions , Punjab University.

In skill-in-teaching competition, zonal-Level, held by Panjab University, Jaspreet got the first prize for commerce while Shalini Sidhu Bagged the second prize for Maths.

In teaching-aid preparation competition, Kuljit Kaur got the first prize for commerce, Nidhi got the second prize for Maths and Ruchi got the third for English.

Students who won prizes in Panjab University youth festival and the running trophy at Satyam college of Education, Moga, were also honoured.

Prof A.S. Dua appreciated the efforts done in the direction of higher education for the girl child. In his address, he congratulated students for their academic and cultural achievements.

He exhorted the students to follow the path laid down by the founder Sant Kartar Singh Ji, the path of honesty, sincerity, hard work and dedication.
